Outing of the moment - Art Paris
The back-to-school art rendez-vous
This annual fair, the first major cultural event since the health crisis, takes place in the heart of the Nave of the Grand Palais. The2020 edition of Art Paris has had its ups and downs: first postponed, then moved online with a 100% digital edition, it returns to center stage from September 10 to 13 for art lovers. The Poinçon 22 team recommends that you stroll among the hundred or so exhibitors to discover and rediscover modern and contemporary art.
Art Paris, 2020 edition
The 2020 edition brought together 112 galleries representing over 15 different countries across a range of themes. New participants this year include Gilles Drouault, Yvon Lambert and Alain Gutharc. This 22nd edition of Art Paris also gives pride of place to a young generation of gallerists as talented as they are innovative.
Here, you'll find a selection of artists taking a look at the French scene, a "cosmopolitan regionalism" as Guillaume Piens, the fair's artistic director, prefers to call it. Let yourself be carried away, at the heart of the fair, by the "Promesses" space, bringing together 14 young galleries from Brussels, Sofia, Marseille and Abidjan. A great way to support emerging artists on the art scene. Finally, have fun deciphering the 21 monographic exhibitions (those devoted to a single artist), the "Solo Shows" scattered throughout the fair. Did you know that monographic exhibitions are a privileged moment in an artist's life? They enable them to develop their knowledge of their work and gain recognition.
Our favorite Poinçon 22
As passionate about art as we are about jewelry, we went to the opening of Art Paris on Wednesday, September 09. We share with you our favorite work of the fair, by Jean Michel Othoniel.
This work reminds me of Poinçon 22 jewelry, particularly the gold beads found in the collections. The roundness of the shapes, the play of colors and light... an enigmatic, poetic sculpture.
- Jessica, creator of Poinçon 22
The little plus?
The show is located in the Nave of the Grand Palais, in the center of Paris, known for its unrivalled luminosity thanks to its glass roof.
Before or after your visit, take a stroll through the parks around the Grand Palais and the Champs Élysées. At the bend in the road, you can admire works of art, salsa dancers or street artists. Stop for a moment to admire the city, its architecture or soft music. It's the perfect way to discover the magic of Paris, just a few steps away from the crowds and tourist attractions. Don't hesitate!
