The designer behind the wedding dresses
Laure de Sagazan, French designer of deceptively casual wedding dresses, confides in us on the occasion of the launch of her Deux mille vingt et un collection. 22 questions to enter the poetic and sublime universe of this Parisian designer whom we adore.
What's your definition of style?
What three pieces do you think a woman should always have in her wardrobe?
A nice bag, a nice coat and a pair of well-cut men's pants. That's a lifesaver no matter what else you've got!
A favorite piece of jewelry you wear every day?
My Trinity ring by Cartier. I love the idea that Cocteau, whom I adore, was behind it. And my Forget me not medal, which I received when my 1st son was born.
Make-up or no make-up?
Light make-up.
What's your favorite gemstone?
I'd have to say diamonds, but that's mostly due to a lack of knowledge about stones. I also like onyx.
What's your fashion taboo?
My passion - unfulfilled, phew - for Buffalos for many years.
What's your favorite perfume scent?
The one that's going to wake up 1000 things and twist your tummy a bit.
What's your favorite place in Paris?
Maybe the convoluted alleyways of Montmartre.
Did you spend your vacations by the sea or in the mountains?
By the sea!
What objects do you collect?
I love antique glass.

Why did you choose the world of weddings?
It came to me after a cousin asked me to make her dress. I absolutely fell in love with this world, where you can work with an exceptional product in an artisanal way, drawing on French know-how... I find it fascinating.
What does the wedding dress mean to you?
It's a marginal piece in a woman's life. The wedding dress has a very strong emotional charge. As a little girl, we subconsciously dream of the princess dress we'll wear one day. Today, I think it's a magical object that we want to pass on.
Retro or modern?
Retro with a twist, that becomes modern.
What inspires you?
Everything! Cinema, reading, fashion, Parisian women...
Do you prefer a short or long dress?
Long! I wear very little short.
This year's wedding trend?
A return to purity and minimalism.
An essential accessory?
Happiness ♥
What kind of jewelry for your wedding dress?
A large pair of earrings, if the dress is minimalist, or on the contrary a pair of ultra discreet earrings, or a small medal.
The perfect pair of shoes for a wedding?
The one that will keep you dancing all night long!
What's the latest green news from the house?
Our line of panties, made from our Calais lace scraps. A desire to make beautiful things from scraps destined to be forgotten in a corner of our workshop.
A creative memory that has stayed with you?
There are so many...
What would be your final piece of advice?
Get the height to enjoy everything, and savor it.
