RUBIS

Like sapphire, ruby is a member of the corundum family of stones composed of oxygen and aluminum, known as sapphire. Sapphires come in a variety of colors: blue, of course, but also yellow, orange and pink. The only exception is ruby, which is not considered a sapphire because it contains chromium, not present in other sapphire crystals, which gives it its fascinating red color.

Precious stone Ruby

WHERE DOES THE rubies come from?

Its name comes from the Latin "ruber", meaning "red". Ruby can never be as pure and limpid as sapphire. In fact, the presence of chromium gives it a few inclusions visible to the naked eye, which nevertheless make it extremely rare and authentic. Jewellers even consider ruby to be a "living" stone. If you're familiar with the 4Cs that characterize diamonds, you'll have heard of the C for "color" and the C for "clarity". Here, jewelry experts favor color rather than clarity in the valuation of a ruby, since it is impossible, as previously mentioned due to inclusions in the crystal, to find a pure, limpid ruby.

The benefits of ruby

Ruby is famous for its medicinal virtues. Since ancient times, rubies have been considered the savior of heart and circulatory problems. It is even said to fight poisons! Beyond its medical virtues, ruby is also said to have mental benefits. It prevents all kinds of anxiety and infidelity, and even brings joy and happiness.

The ruby is linked to the astrological sign of the lion, and will therefore bring good luck to those born at the end of July and beginning of August!

HOW TO WEAR IT

Like sapphire, the ruby's sparkling colour allows it to be associated with any metal: yellow, white or rose gold or platinum.

In terms of color, you can wear ruby with light colors such as white, blue or beige to make it sparkle. The red of the ruby is even more sparkling in the evening, thanks to light fixtures, which bring a brilliant color to the stone. You can also combine ruby with darker colors such as black or deep blue.

JEWELRY CARE

You can clean your ruby by immersing it in a bath of lukewarm water with a little soap. Then gently brush the stone with a baby toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly and leave to dry.

In everyday life, take care of your jewelry by protecting it from toxic substances such as perfume, creams, chlorine, etc., but also by removing it when you are involved in sports or manual activities.
