Sapphire

The sapphire has returned to the limelight thanks to Kate Middleton and her engagement ring - the most photographed in the world. A 18K majestic blue sapphire  surrounded by 14 diamonds, a ring that belonged to the Prince's mother, Lady Di.

But did you know that a completely pure sapphire is totally white and transparent? Sapphire is a precious stone belonging to the "corundum" category. It's composed of aluminum oxide crystals containing impurities (oxides), which give it different color variations.

Where does sapphire come from?

The etymology of the sapphire comes from the Greek "sapheirros", meaning "blue". And although its Greek name refers to blue, sapphire can be duplicated in many colors. The legend of the sapphire has spanned the whole of religious history. It was first said that the color of the sky was the sapphire's mirror. The Greeks, for their part, recounted that Prometheus was the first to wear the blue sapphire on his finger, bringing gaiety and harmony to those lucky enough to wear it.

Sapphire is the gemstone dedicated to September natives and Taurus sign bearers.

How to wear it

Sapphire adapts to all metals thanks to its precious, dark color.

Blue sapphire can be worn with lighter shades, adding presence to your silhouette. Dare to wear tone-on-tone with denim for a trendy look.

Yellow sapphire is more original than blue sapphire, but its tangy color captures the light beautifully. A stone that will sparkle on your hands.

The pink sapphire of the Éternité bracelet brings a touch of softness and femininity to your wrist. Its soft colour blends with all jewellery and outfits.

JEWELRY CARE

You can clean your sapphire by immersing it in a bath of lukewarm water with a little soap. Then gently brush the stone's base with a baby toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly and leave to dry.

In everyday life, take care of your jewelry by protecting it from toxic substances such as perfume, creams, chlorine, etc., but also by removing it when you are involved in sports or manual activities.
